Guest Book: Cape Cod

I was driven to create this ocean-inspired book after staying at our friends' home on the Cape on New Year's Eve of 2006. This one will nicely replace a makeshift guestbook in a 3-ring binder.

Invitations: Thank You Brunch

A lovely bunch of friends and family came to our rescue this summer when my mom became ill. Now that she is doing considerably better, she decided to invite a small bunch of these folks to a Sunday brunch. I wanted to help out, and quickly created a dimensional invitation with a little brunch-related poem attached to bottles of maple syrup.

Polycystic Kidney Disease Mailer

Last year, I participated in the Boston Walk for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Because many people are uncomfortable making transactions on the web, I decided to create a mailer to request donations from our friends and family. The mailer featured our friend who has this disease.

Birthday Invitation: Megan's Sweet 16

For a last-minute "Sweet Sixteen" party, I designed an invitation in a pinch. With help from some design elements from iStockPhoto, I created an emailable invitation in a very short amount of time.

It's not something I'm incredibly proud of, but I did save (myself) some time, (the world) some trees and (my co-worker) some money!

Invitation: Habitat for Humanity Groundbreaking

Although I completed the required orientation process last winter, I finally felt I was in a place to send in my resume and get on the Marketing Committee for Habitat for Humanity Boston. My first project came along quickly, and required a very quick turn-around time. Although it was helpful that the director had a very clear vision of the design for this project, I am excited about future projects with them for which I hope I am able to lend a bit more creativity!

Below is an invitation to the groundbreaking for a new home in Newton.

Birthday Invitation: Grandma's 80th

I am very happy to have finally crafted this photo album for my grandma, who is now 81, featuring the invitation and photos from her surprise 80th birthday party at the fabulous Pittsfield Elk's Club.

Restless Leg Syndrome: Proposed Ad Campaign

Below is a series of three proposed journal spreads I created for a new business pitch within my advertising agency. The cricket, illustrated under my art direction by Steven Salerno, represented the late-night jumpiness that patients with RLS experience. The cricket's brushstroke outlines were derived from the existing Neupro mark. This concept and execution played a large role in winning the global account for my agency.

Wedding Invitations: Josh & Twin

Our friends' June wedding will take place at Copia, a wine and food center in Napa Valley in California. I wanted to come up with a unique invitation design that spoke to the wineries of Napa without actually implementing illustrations of wine bottles, grapes, etc... To accomplish this, I employed cork paper — wonderfully crafted sheets of actual thinly sliced cork — and burgundy velvet ribbon to hint at the hue of red wine. I was inspired by a potential flower arrangement (chosen by the bride) containing chartreuse hydrangeas, and found that this color complimented both the decorative cork and rich velvet perfectly.

I made a guest book to go along with the invitations I designed for the lovely wedding we just attended in Napa Valley.

I also created a seating poster for the reception - rather than table numbers, each table was named "I love you" in a different language.

Placecards were created to match the chartreuse-based theme, held in place by corks, with wedding favor charity donation information Gocco screenprinted in gold ink on the back.

My friend, Kala, did a wonderful job with the table names and settings!

Baby Shower Invitation: Baby Tyler

My cousin's baby shower is in April, and she is planning a jungle decorating theme for the nursery (based upon a style currently available at Target). I decided to match her chosen theme as I designed the invitations to her shower, using fun paper from the Paper Source (from which I created the little elephant illustration).

Big Brothers Big Sisters Campaign

This project involved a 4-poster series created through a pro-bono arrangement at my agency. The final posters (not the four you see below) were the result of collaboration, but all of the creative work in the series I have included here is my own. The client wished for the posters to communicate the idea that being a Big Brother brings as much joy to the "Big" as it does to the "Little."
